Syria demands compensation from the United States for the economic damage caused as a result of the illegal export of oil from fields in the northeast of the country. This statement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Arab Republic, reports TASS.

The ministry's message emphasizes that Damascus condemns the actions of the US occupation forces. It is also noted that "the plundering of natural resources belonging to the Syrian people contradicts international humanitarian law, leads to impoverishment and suffering of citizens."

The Syrian Foreign Ministry also called on the United States to stop supporting terrorist and separatist formations, as well as to withdraw troops from Syrian territory.

In August 2022, the SANA news agency reported that the US military had removed 137 oil tanks from Syria. The transportation of fuel extracted from Syrian deposits in the Al Jazeera region was carried out with the support of Kurdish formations.
